Troubleshooting the CRM Client for Outlook

How often have you installed the CRM Client for Outlook, run the configuration tool and then received the dreaded error, "There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server. The server might be unavailable. Try again later. If the problem persists, contact your administrator".

This has happened to me many times and when it does you realise that you are in for some lengthy troubleshooting. With possible reasons inlcuding firewalls, incorrect clocks, wrong Web address in the Deployment Manager it would be nice to have a tool that helped ou out. Well, it seems that Microsoft has realised this can be a troublesome area and have released a troubleshooting wizard that may help. Check out this link http://rc.crm.dynamics.com/rc/2011/en-us/online/5.0/outlook-troubleshooting.aspx.

Note: The tool was upated in July 2012.
